The weekend is already getting off to a fast start with news about Anna.

The Committee to Protect Journalists has written another letter to President Putin on the investigation, asking why the "enemies abroad" theory is being heavily promoted above all others.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) today proposed an international probe into the journalist's death.

A journalist in Grozny, Chechnya, Natalya Estemirova, has been awarded the inaugural Anna Politkovskaya award. Estemirova has also published a gripping account of Anna's reporting on Sergei Lapin.

In Paris, activists have staged a ceremony in the Trocadéro plaza with 18 coffins - representing the 18 journalists who have lost their lives due to their work since 2000, while in Rome, a plaza in Villa Pamphili was named after her.

There has been no shortage of opinion articles in support of her legacy.
